Ben Dixon, Head of Customer Success – My Career Lab
In October this year, My Career Lab launched an initiative to help build the Cyber Security ecosystem in Australia and increase the number of women pursuing cyber careers through the Careers in Cyber program.
Recent studies from AustCyber suggest that Australia will need almost 18,000 additional Cyber Security workers by 2026, making cyber skills some of the most in demand in the market.
This program offers access to low-cost training and scholarships for women in the wider IT sector to up-skill and transition into the diverse range of opportunities in Cyber Security.
This 12 week, part-time and online program includes training, masterclasses and employability sessions designed to give participants the skills and confidence to move into role in Cyber Security and we are currently supporting a group of women from HR, telco, Financial Services and University through the 12 week re-skilling program which will conclude in December.
In support of this initiative, My Career Lab worked with the strong network of current and aspiring Cyber Security professionals within the Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) including offering a scholarship to one of the prize winners of the Best Student Security Leader category at the AWSN & CSO Women in Security Awards 2019 in Melbourne in September.
